Strengthening Agricultural Information System in the Department of Agriculture & Cooperation - Schemes - Agriculture - Citizens: National Portal of India: "The objective of the Scheme is to promote e-governance in agriculture at Centre and to provide support to States/UTs for the same. The Scheme has the following components:- (i) IT apparatus in DAC Headquarters (ii) IT apparatus in the field offices and Directorates of DAC. (iii) Development of Agricultural Informatics and Communication. (iv) Agricultural Resources Information Systems. (v) AGRISNET - Strengthening of e-Governance in Agriculture& Cooperation in the States and Union Territories. (vi) Kisan Call Centres. The salient features of the Scheme are :- (i) National e-Governance Plan in Agriculture is under preparation. (ii) Four portals and 40 websites have been developed to provide information and services to farmers and other users on different aspects of agriculture. (iii) AGMARKNET portal provides information on commodity prices and arrivals in respect of 300 commodities from over 2000 markets. (iv) AGRISNET projects from 13 States have already been approved. (v) Kisan Call Centres provide information through toll free number 1551 from any part of the country in response to queries received from farmers and others."
